Adaptation Connections
Second grade classes in San Diego County are invited to participate in a FREE guided visit at the San Diego Zoo. Dr. Harry Wegeforth, the founder of the San Diego Zoo, dedicated the Zoo to the children of San Diego. In honor of this dedication, our free second grade program has been a long-standing tradition at the Zoo. The program is complemented by the zoo’s NGSS-aligned Adaptation Connection Curriculum, which teachers can implement in their classrooms before and after their zoo visit to augment their students’ science education. At the Zoo, the program includes a presentation with Roberta the Talking Zebra and an animal presentation, as well as a bus tour. This special program is very popular among teachers who are "in the know," so advance reservations are required and must be made early in the school year!
This program can be scheduled Monday-Friday and always starts promptly at 10am. Please have several dates in mind when you call to register (and transportation arranged) because space is limited!

This virtual series showcases our connection to wildlife, our connection to one another, and how we are making the world a smaller place through our conservation efforts. You’ll chat with our team of experts as they introduce you to extraordinary wildlife, share the pressing issues they’re facing, and discuss how we’re collaborating in the field to help these iconic species.
