Elementary Institute of Science: Afterschool and Saturday Science Classes
The Elementary Institute of Science has been providing hands-on STEM learning activities to San Diegans for more than 50 years. Our 15,000 square foot STEM learning center located in southeast San Diego includes 8 well-equipped learning labs, a 100-seat auditorium, and our instructors are emerging STEM professionals with a passion for sharing their knowledge. Our programs provide an opportunity for students (grades 2-8) to immerse themselves in STEM learning beyond school hours. Students explore a wide range of STEM content areas while building skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication.Topics may include biology, chemistry, engineering, photographic arts, computer science, and physics.
Each Session is 10 weeks, with classes meeting once per week except on holidays. Students participate in two hands-on STEM lab activities every week, for a total of 16 - 20 hours of instruction per session.
