Zoo Educator Internship

Looking for a career in conservation? Zovargo has ongoing internship programs to help you get started. We are a zoo with 30 exotic animal species and can provide you with the hands-on experience needed to launch your career!

Our animal internship program allows for a chance to develop your skills as a conservation educator, animal handler, and keeper. You'll gain experience and professional training delivering virtual and in-person education programs with live animals. During the six month internship you'll be surrounded by friendly conservationists, coaching, and professional training to help support career development.

Interns that have completed the Zovargo internship have gotten employment at world-class Zoos and aquariums, as field biologists, Fish and Wildlife service, and other conservation fields of work.

Qualifications

Must be 18, have your own vehicle, be the registered owner, and have a driver license.
Must have means to accommodate gas expense. Travel is a requirement in this position.
Must have a smart phone and be able to navigate successfully to events.
Must be able to dedicate six months of time to the internship and be available to the minimum commitment of one program per week.
Should have experience speaking in front of audiences.
Should have experience handling animals.
Should have experience working with children/youth.

Responsibilities

Deliver engaging, interactive, educational programs (virtually and in-person) to audiences of all ages.
Provide education programs as a team with other educators.
Follow Animal Handling Protocols for Animal Ambassadors.
Provide Animal Husbandry as a keeper.
Abide by Code of Conduct and Animal Policies.
