CSUSM Center for Research and Engagement in STEM Education
The CSUSM Center for Research and Engagement in STEM Education (CRESE) is dedicated to enriching, enhancing, and supporting STEM education. CRESE aims to improve educational outcomes in the region by engaging K-12 students and teachers. Further, we are committed to generating new knowledge related to STEM education practices through research.
CRESE runs a mobile making after school program at 13 middle school sites in the San Diego North County. Undergrad STEM ambassadors from CSUSM provide middle school students opportunities to discover and learn through hands-on STEM Making activities. Exposure to STEM and interactions with these near-peer mentors is impactful, and CRESE is seeing increased student interest and self-efficacy in STEM and Making.
