USA Science & Engineering Festival

CBOs, Family/Parent Organizations, Youth Organizing & Advisory Groups

Larry Bach founded the San Diego Science Festival in 2009 and then, with the partnership of Expo Sponsor Lockheed Martin and the support of other organizations, the inaugural USA Science & Engineering Festival took place in Washington, D.C in 2010. The Festival continued, unbelievably bigger and better every other year drawing crowds of over 300,000.
The pandemic forced us to cancel the 2020 festival and to pivot to virtual offerings, enabling us to reach students who would not have had the opportunity to travel to D.C. for the festival. We produced 2 of our X-STEM All Access events virtually as a resource for educators to use in their classrooms or for families to watch together at home. X-STEM All Access is an entertaining, educational, and interactive online STEM experience for 6-12th graders. Through a series of daily livestream events, students hear from an exclusive, diverse group of visionaries who aim to inspire kids about careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.

In April 2022 we are hosting our first in person X-STEM event in San Diego, a free event for middle to high school students.

Our mission is to stimulate and sustain the interest of our nation’s youth in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) by producing and presenting the most compelling, exciting, and educational Festival in the world.

The USA Science & Engineering Festival serves as an open forum to showcase all facets of STEM, celebrating STEM through stellar, multi-faceted programs with high entertainment value and integrity of scientific content, that is accessible to the general public.

We accomplish our mission by:

Involving the most dynamic leaders in business, technology, government, education and culture to support and engage in our mission.
Building the nation’s largest network of individuals, institutions, corporations and organizations with similar focus, resulting in increased collaboration between the scientific and educational communities.
Spreading our message through powerful media partnerships and an effective communications strategy, resulting in increased public awareness of the importance of STEM in our lives.
Committing to provide educational and inspirational programming to the general public at little to no charge in order to engage the largest possible audience, including underserved populations.
