Citizen Schools is a national nonprofit organization that partners with middle schools to provide hands-on experiential learning with career mentors. Over the last 25+ years, we have served over 50,000 underrepresented students and engaged over 25,000 volunteer mentors.

Our Catalyst Program matches career mentors with Science and CTE teachers, to deliver high-quality experiential learning. These standards aligned project units allow students to become producers of solutions to real-life community challenges, instead of just consumers.

Our goals and objectives for this program are:
1) Deeper student engagement through experiential learning, delivered through the partnership of teachers and career mentors
2) Developing capacity of teachers through professional development, focused on experiential learning
3) Building Social Emotional Learning and collaborative problem solving skills for our students
4) Forging critical adult connections through diverse career mentors, who ground project work in real world challenges and expose students to new career pathways

We're actively looking to support new schools and partners throughout San Diego.
